Smithwick’s Ale

The cold is not my friend, and I suspect the Smithwick’s I had tonight didn’t much care for the cold either. It’s a good thing the sun was out and I was in good company so I could let the ale sit still and warm up a bit while Chris and I got caught up.

Chris is a birthmonth project pro. Along with Mirna and Alex, they hosted one of the most memorable (and delicious) evenings of my veggieburger extravaganza a couple of years ago. So, I’m rather pleased he joined me for a beer tonight.

And speaking of the beer, I was right to let it sit. What at first had seemed a lackluster brew, in time opened up to reveal its hops and roasty malts. It’s definitely more of a session beer as far as I’m concerned, but a fairly decent one at that. Sometimes all you need is just a little patience.

  1. You have got me seriously considering a place ticket to Kansas City before the end of the month…
